Beloved author and illustrator, Maurice Sendak, passed away on May 8, 2012.
As the creator of works such as Where the Wild Things Are, In the Night Kitchen, Outside Over There, and Chicken Soup With Rice, Sendak enveloped readers (and those read to) in dark but enchanting worlds, charming us with rambunctious children and monsters, and shining a light on the inner depths of our own secret characters.
If you don’t have a copy of one of his treasured works on hand, relive some of the magic with this reading:
Please tell us your favorite Sendak book or briefly describe a memory of reading his work in the comments.
This librarian will always have a special place in her heart for In the Night Kitchen.
